If you are looking for a more meaningful way to cope with the stressors of parenting, counseling may be a great option! Parenting looks different for every individual and while that age-old statement has possibly comforted parents throughout the years, sometimes we need more. Committing to Change

Committing to Change

It is natural and necessary to evaluate why we require change. In doing so, it is important to analyze current behavior patterns, and trends of thinking. The need for change can manifest into a range of emotions and behaviors. It is common for individuals to periodically question their purpose, values and needs. This line of questioning can lead to positive growth and development.
Many individuals find they are no longer happy with their current lifestyle, profession, friendships, and/or family dynamics. Often change is unsuccessful when the individual focuses on what is NOT working. This pattern of negative thinking can lead to a person feeling “stuck”. In order to have successful change, we must focus on goals, values and desired outcomes. Focusing on solutions can push your mind into implementing change.
Here are some tools to help promote change:
• Accepting why change is needed
• Understanding your dissatisfaction
• Start simple and take baby steps
• Set realistic expectations
Remember positive change will take time. Try to gain comfort in who you are now, and confidence in who/where you want to be.
